Chapter 2: A Dangerous Bargain

The air in the room thickened with tension as Zander’s grip tightened around my wrist. My heart raced, a mix of fear and fury coursing through my veins. I glanced at my father, who stood frozen in place, his face a mask of despair. The realization hit me like a punch to the gut—this was a nightmare from which I could not wake.

“Your father signed away your life,” Zander taunted, his eyes glimmering with a cruel satisfaction. “He made a deal with me, and now you’re the price.”

I struggled against his hold, trying to pull free, but his grip was like iron. “You think you can just take me?” I spat, my voice trembling. “I’m not his property!”

Zander chuckled darkly, releasing my wrist only to step back, his gaze still locked on me. “Oh, but you are. That’s the beauty of it. You belong to me now, sweetheart.”

I felt a surge of anger, my fists clenching at my sides. “You’re a monster,” I hissed, my voice low and defiant. “You think you can intimidate me? I won’t let you!”

“Intimidation is merely a tool, Natasha. What I seek is something far more valuable.” His eyes narrowed, a predatory glint flashing across his face. “Obedience. Loyalty. And perhaps… a little bit of fun along the way.”

He waved a hand, and one of his men stepped forward, a smirk plastered across his face. “We can make this easy or hard, princess. Your choice.”

The man was shorter than Zander but equally imposing, a muscle-bound brute with a buzz cut and tattoos snaking down his arms. I could sense that he relished the chaos of the moment, waiting for my spirit to break.

“I’d rather die than be a pawn in your twisted game,” I shot back, my voice steady despite the fear gnawing at my insides.

“Maybe you’ll get your chance,” Zander said, amusement dancing in his dark eyes. “But first, I want you to understand what you’re up against. Your father is in deep, and his debts are my business now.”

I glanced back at my dad, who had finally found his voice, albeit shaky. “Natasha, just do what he says. It’s for your safety… for our safety!” His desperation cut deep, but I couldn’t accept it. I was not a bargaining chip.

“Shut up!” Zander barked at my father, his patience wearing thin. “You had your chance to save her. Now, it’s too late.”

“Zander, please—” I started, my voice cracking as I tried to reason with him.

“Enough!” He stepped closer, invading my personal space again, the heat radiating off him almost suffocating. “I suggest you start thinking about how you’re going to make this work. Your father has a month to pay up, or I’ll make good on my promise. And trust me, you don’t want to find out what that entails.”

As he turned to leave, I felt a surge of panic. “Wait! What if I refuse to cooperate?”

He paused, glancing back over his shoulder, a sly smile playing on his lips. “Refusal has consequences, Natasha. You’ll find out soon enough.”

With that, he and his men exited, leaving me standing there, my world crumbling around me. I turned to my father, who looked ashen, a man who’d lost everything.

“Dad, what have you done?” I whispered, my voice barely audible.

“I thought I could manage it, Natasha. I didn’t know it would come to this,” he said, tears brimming in his eyes.

“We have to find a way out!” I insisted, my mind racing. The only way to reclaim my freedom was to gather information, to strategize. I couldn’t just be a pawn in Zander’s game.

“I—I’ll figure something out. I promise,” he said, his voice cracking.

But deep down, I knew there was little he could do. Zander had made it clear that I was now part of his world, and it was a world woven with danger, power, and violence.

As the weight of my new reality settled in, I felt a flicker of determination ignite within me. I wouldn’t be Zander’s prisoner without a fight.

I had to play his game, but I would do it on my terms. And maybe, just maybe, I could turn the tides in my favor.

The clock was ticking, and I needed a plan.

The game had just begun.
